Wilderness Human Remains Detection
Human Remains Detection- These K9s are trained to detect human decomposition, which means they can locate body parts, tissue, blood, or bone. K9s can be trained for land searches and/ or water searches.
Wilderness Trailing
Wilderness Trailing is the scent specific pursuit of one individual’s scent, following skin rafts (shed skin cells) wherever they have been dispersed. The K9’s nose will be down close to the ground but may also be up at times, acquiring the scent in the best manner possible. The weather, wind and topology will be the determining factors in how a K9 works a trail. Because of this, Trailing dogs will many times work a trail off the track by several feet. In addition, Trailing K9s can work extremely aged trails.
Wilderness Area Search (Air Scent)
Air Scent K9 works off lead, ranging back and forth in an area to pick up the human scent left by the subject. Ranging often takes the K9 out of sight for several minutes at a time, so the handler must trust their K9 and listen for an alert. Once the K9 detects the subject’s scent, he moves into its source.
