Dedicated to bringing them home

At Central Ohio Rescue/Recovery K9 Unit, our mission is to provide and promote search and rescue K9s as a local resource. We stand ready to assist Fire Departments, Law Enforcement Agencies, EMS Agencies, and their communities in times of emergency. Learn more about how our dedicated team can help.

Our search and rescue services

We offer a range of specialized search and rescue services, available upon request from law enforcement and fire department officers. We're here to support their search for missing persons with our dedicated K9 units and experienced handlers.

Dedicated volunteers, supported by donations

Central Ohio Rescue/Recovery K9 Unit consists of dedicated volunteers: 18 canines, 15 handlers, and 4 field support personnel. We are supported entirely by donations, allowing us to provide our services to any agency that requests our assistance based on volunteer availability.

Our commitment

We are committed to assisting law enforcement and fire departments in locating: missing persons in wilderness or urban settings, missing children, lost or injured hikers/hunters, drowning victims, Alzheimer's or dementia patients, and deceased victims on land or in water.

How we help

Responding at the direct request of law enforcement and fire department officers, we provide specialized K9 search and rescue services. Please note that we do not respond at the direct request of family members.

Community Outreach

The Central Ohio Rescue/Recovery K9 Unit is dedicated to educating the community and first responders on the role of canines in search and rescue operations. By interacting with those who are often first on scene, we help demonstrate the capabilities, performance, and effectiveness of our K9 teams.
